Civil engineering is field of engineering sciences, related to design, construction and maintenance of buildings, dams, bridges, tunnels, highways and other structures by the use of physical laws, mathematical equations and theories of mechanics. In the current world we exist in, no country will succeed without the adoption of engineering practices. Bridges, highways, drinking water- just a few necessities to the modern world, made possible by engineers throughout history, specifically civil engineers. The main intention behind this is to not only make the lives of people easier and secure, but also to beautify our surroundings in a stronger and better way. Civil engineers design, build, and maintain the foundation for our modern society – our roads and bridges, drinking water and energy systems, sea ports and airports, and the infrastructure for a cleaner environment, to name just a few.
History of technology - History of technology - Civil engineering: Important development occurred in civil engineering in the first half of the 20th century, although there were few striking innovations. Civil Engineering is central to societal development, creating a safe, robust and innovative infrastructure within environmental standards required for modern living. According to my research, civil engineering started between 4000 – 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. the main objectives of irrigation systems is to help agricultural crop growth, landscape maintenance, reduce the effect of inadequate rainfall etc. Therefore, the importance of irrigation systems is very high.
